Happy Birthday, Logan!
Today is Mr. Logan’s birthday, and yesterday we gathered at Jake & Christie’s to celebrate. Logan is very much into pirates right now, so we all got offered pirate hats, eye patches, and tattoos like the one on his arm. Here he is showing his mom one of his favorite new toys!
A couple days ago I got this great book by Me Ra Koh on photographing babies, and thought I’d give her suggestions a try with Logan and Rosalee. Not that Logan is a baby anymore, mind you, being a whole 6 years old! But many of the same principles apply. She, like I, prefers to capture a story with the picture rather than asking people to look at the camera and smile. I’ve always had trouble photographing people for a number of reasons, one being that I’m not pushy enough to set myself up in the right spot for the picture. I still need to work on that, but fortunately these kids are very accommodating. Rosalee, in particular, is quite the ham. Here she is enjoying the first piece of Logan’s birthday cake. Note the animal crackers placed there to appease her while the cake was being cut up.
For 10 years I created realistic miniature horse tack, and dabbled in pastel finishwork. I had to lay down my carving knife and brushes due to arthritis, and have recently picked up a camera instead. Art and horses have always been my 2 greatest loves (besides the hubby, of course), so I combine them whenever I get the chance. I reside in coastal NH with my husband and 2 cats.
